Meu querido aluno Léo Kurata comentou no post “foco na atuação high-tech vale a pena?” que fazer trabalhos complexos é a motivação para seguir crescendo profissionalmente em Odontologia. Acredito que ele estava expressando sua admiração pela superação de desafios. E vejo a mim mesmo aí nessa atitude. E, sem discutir certo e errado, melhor ou pior, a gente sabe que os bem sucedidos no trabalho primeiro se preocupam em oferecer valor; não é só o dinheiro. Daí talvez a justificativa para encarar o desafio, mesmo que do ponto de vista financeiro nem seja o melhor.
Então, se capacitar para estar apto a encarar desafios cada vez maiores é sempre bom. Certo?
Olha, não sei. É certo que eu gostaria de passar em consulta com um profissional perfeccionista, que busca a solução dos casos mais complexos com maestria. Talvez isso explique o sucesso desses profissionais. No entanto, acredito que deva haver algum limite sobre o que devemos aceitar como desafio se quisermos ter uma boa qualidade de vida. O perfeccionista se propõe metas cada vez mais altas e objetivos mais difíceis. Quando consegue atingir suas metas acontece que não sente a satisfação nem a felicidade que esperava. Essa expectativa idealizada se desfaz pois ocorre um desequilíbrio entre o esforço e o desfrute. O esforço passa a ter um peso desproporcional. Começa a ficar pesado trabalhar.
Então, Léo Kurata, siga com seus desafios mas preste atenção ao ponto em que se deve usar de humildade para dizer com uma dose de assertividade: esse desafio eu não quero. Não porque eu não seja capaz ou não possa me capacitar, mas porque simplesmente não vale a pena.
